My Entrance into the Blogging World
Okay, now that I've ascertained that this blog is working, I can write my first real entry. This is my last night in my apartment in Boston (well, technically in Malden). I'm moving back to Lagos, Nigeria and it's been a time of mixed feelings. On one hand, I always planned on moving back home, but on the other hand, I'd worked so hard to build a life for myself here. I remember my first year in Boston, I really wanted to leave. I arrived at the height (or lows) of winter and had never seen so much snow in my life; or been so cold or lonely. Well, a year later, I was much happier. I'd completed my certificate in applied sciences (fancy name for computer studies) and was starting to job hunt. I suppose in many ways, it's been the best of times and the worst of times, but I really wouldn't have traded the experience for anything. My last night in my apartment is similar to my first. I'm sitting here on cushions on the floor. Almost all of my furniture is gone. I do have a lot of things to get done though. I'm doing laundry right now and really should be shredding my confidential documents so that I can put them in the trash, but I really wanted to get this blog started first. I checked out the WordPress blogging tool as well, but the installation process was much more involved. I had to FTP the files to my webserver. Since I have dial-up, this would have taken forever. next, I had to create a database and after that I can't remember. I'm sure it's all stuff that I can do, but at 2:10AM???? Thanks, but no thanks! I also looked at LiveJournal, which was recommended by a friend and that looked really good and I had actually planned on using that, but somehow I got sidetracked and ended up here instead.
Tomorrow I move out of here; on Wednesday Ayoola and I leave for London for a week after which we return to Lagos. I'll try to get more writing done over the next week.
